Role Overview

The Senior Frontend Engineer will play a key role collaborating with the team to develop reusable and scalable components for Faire's web interfaces. This position emphasizes championing accessibility and performance, setting and maintaining testing strategies for the design system, and advancing frontend architecture. The role also involves mentoring fellow engineers, fostering best practices in frontend development, and exploring AI-assisted tool integration to enhance the design workflow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain reusable, high-quality UI components that efficiently scale across various platforms.
  • Promote and apply accessibility and performance standards in component development.
  • Define and uphold testing protocols and quality benchmarks for the design system.
  • Collaborate with cross-company engineers to encourage adoption and continual refinement of the system based on practical usage.
  • Contribute thought leadership to frontend architecture and technical direction.
  • Leverage AI-assisted tools to expedite and improve the design process.
  • Guide and mentor engineers through design and code reviews, elevating frontend craftsmanship throughout the organization.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years professional experience in frontend engineering with strong expertise in React, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with product design and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with building or maintaining design systems, shared UI libraries, or platforms adopted by multiple product teams.
  • Solid understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and their implementation.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead technical projects from start to finish and influence broader technical decisions.
  • Passion for creating maintainable, scalable, and high-quality code, enhancing engineering productivity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable professional experience.

  • React, TypeScript, Next.js, NX
  • Figma, Storybook, Playwright
  • RESTful and streaming APIs integrated with Kotlin-based backend services

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary in Canada ranges from $160,000 to $220,000. This role also offers eligibility for equity and benefits packages. Final base pay will depend on factors including skills, experience, market conditions, and primary work location. Salary details may be subject to future updates.

Work Environment

This is a remote full-time position. Hybrid employees typically work on-site three days weekly with options for a third flex day, and limited remote work weeks annually. Workplace attendance requirements will be explicitly defined depending on role specifics.
