Introduction

Join the Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT) division as an Engineering Project Manager to spearhead innovation in global earthmoving technology. This role involves leading core software and hardware system developments within an international system integration team, driving advanced technologies from conception to market implementation, impacting construction and mining globally.

Role Highlights

The role empowers you to elevate program management practices within CTCT, leading substantial projects that enhance customer success and operational performance. You will coordinate across engineering, hardware, software, and product teams to manage new product introductions from concept through commercialization. The position requires working at a systems-integration level, aligning engineering disciplines, software releases, and validation efforts to deliver cohesive, market-ready systems that address complex client needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development of core system components, overseeing an international system integration team through the established T5 phase gate methodology.
  • Develop detailed project plans including work breakdown, estimations, and resource allocations to maintain comprehensive master schedules.
  • Manage resources, team interactions, and change control measures to ensure adherence to schedules, budgets, and contractual commitments.
  • Identify project risks proactively and implement mitigation strategies while communicating insights to senior leadership and product teams.
  • Promote organizational accountability by ensuring compliance with the T5 outcome-driven process across product teams.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical industry experience.
  • Minimum of five years’ practical experience in technical project management within multidisciplinary and software development teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to concurrently manage multiple projects, identify challenges proactively, and maintain strong professional relationships.

Additional Valuable Experience

  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies, including backlog management and facilitation of value teams.
  • Holders of formal Project Management certifications.
  • Prior experience working in multicultural, international environments.

Work Environment and Location

The role is based onsite in Christchurch, New Zealand, at an engineering hub with over 400 employees. Facilities include free parking, a gym, showers, social clubs, and collaborative working spaces conducive to innovation. Travel is expected to be under 10%.
