Chief Accountant - Payroll

Job Overview

UCC Holding is in search of a diligent and motivated Chief Accountant specializing in Payroll to become an integral part of our Finance team located in Lusail, Qatar. This role demands oversight of payroll accounting functions, execution of WPS processing, ensuring completion of month-end closings, handling intercompany accounting aspects, and generating payroll-related financial reports all in compliance with organizational policies and legal regulations.

Core Responsibilities

• Analyze payroll journals as prepared by Human Resources and confirm the accuracy of payroll postings within SAP.
• Perform reconciliations involving payroll expenditures, provisions, and associated balance sheet accounts.
• Generate and submit Wage Protection System (WPS) files and facilitate salary disbursements through relevant bank portals.
• Assess end-of-service (EOS) calculations and administer the process of final employee settlements.
• Collaborate closely with HR and Treasury departments regarding payroll and employee payment activities.
• Handle intercompany payroll back-charge processes, including the preparation of necessary supporting calculations.
• Oversee month-end closing procedures, encompassing payroll accruals, EOS provisions, reconciliations, journal postings, and preparation of closing schedules.
• Provide assistance during quarterly review cycles and annual external audits by supplying payroll and employee cost summaries.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
• A minimum of 5 to 10 years in accounting roles, with at least 2 to 3 years focused on payroll accounting.
• Practical experience with WPS processing, comprehensive payroll accounting, month-end closings, intercompany reconciliations, and general ledger tasks.
• Competence in financial software such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Strong grasp of payroll control mechanisms, account reconciliations, and detailed financial reporting.
• High attention to detail paired with the capability to function efficiently in a dynamic and fast-paced workplace.
