Role Overview

Located in Kidlington, this full-time Yard Person position within the Thames Water Inventory and Supply team entails managing the storage and distribution of essential equipment, materials, tools, and mobile plant. The annual salary starts at 31,500, varying with experience. Your duties include maintaining an organized, secure yard environment, correctly storing and labeling all items, and ensuring plant and guarding equipment are properly accounted for. Close coordination with operational teams will be necessary for stock issuance and returns. This role requires strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Keep the yard clean, safe, and orderly at all times
• Store, secure, and maintain plant, equipment, and materials accurately
• Label all barriers, signage, guarding, and supplies clearly for easy access
• Collaborate with front-line operational teams to manage stock issuing and returns following Thames Water procedures
• Disposal of waste in line with Thames Water's Waste Management protocols
• Conduct regular monitoring and reporting such as stock takes, inspections, and audits weekly and monthly
• Ensure all vehicles obey Thames Water site safety and traffic management standards
• Identify and report any health and safety issues promptly
• Participate actively in team meetings to promote safe practices, site pride, and continuous improvement

Qualifications and Skills

• Previous experience in manual handling, stock control, and yard or depot management
• Forklift license and/or Tele-handler qualification is advantageous
• Good understanding of health and safety practices and experience working in safety-critical environments
• Knowledge of operating vehicles, equipment, and proper loading/unloading methods
• Willingness to work outdoors regardless of weather conditions

Additional Details

• Location: Kidlington Depot, OX5 1QT
• Working Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday
• Salary: Starting from 31,500 per year, dependent on skills and experience
• Holiday Entitlement: 24 days annually, increasing to 28 days with tenure, plus bank holidays
