Job description
Role Overview
Join Hynds Pipe Systems Limited as a Yard & Forklift Operator where you play a vital role in ensuring smooth branch operations by managing product movement and customer interactions efficiently at our Hornby site in Christchurch, Canterbury. Your day will be dynamic, involving various tasks from forklift operation to front counter service.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts to transport, stack, load, and safely store products including concrete and PVC materials.
- Manage loading and unloading tasks for trucks and customer vehicles, while organizing driver coordination, deliveries, and necessary paperwork.
- Conduct daily forklift maintenance checks and maintain a clean, orderly, and secure yard environment.
- Handle yard and stock management activities such as stocktaking, cycle counts, product coding, docket preparation, and receipt of incoming goods.
- Provide customer service at the front counter, assisting with sales, preparing quotes, and responding to phone inquiries.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a current forklift licence with F endorsement and a full Class 1 driver's licence.
- Experience working with forklifts and managing yard operations efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
- Previous front counter experience demonstrating customer service skills and confidence in client interactions.
- Proficiency with computer systems for stock management, invoicing, and order processing.
- Physical ability to remain active throughout the day and handle products weighing up to approximately 20 kg.
- Knowledge of industry-specific products is favorable but not mandatory.
