Job description
Overview
This role is based in-person primarily at the University of Alberta's North and South Campuses in Edmonton. The Workshop Attendant supports fleet operations by preparing vehicles, performing preventive maintenance and minor technical repairs, and coordinating with customers and service partners. The work involves engine oil and filter changes, multi-point safety inspections covering steering, suspension, tires, belts, and hoses, thorough interior and exterior cleaning, vehicle condition documentation, and rental dispatch tasks.
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare vehicles by cleaning inside and out, perform pre- and post-trip inspections to confirm mechanical and safety standards are met, and manage vehicle dispatch and returns.
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance tasks such as changing engine oil and filters.
- Carry out tire repairs using changers and balancers and complete windshield rock chip repairs as required.
- Set up new vehicles for deployment and prepare used units for disposal, including minor repairs.
- Support overall shop activities by assisting mechanics, maintaining cleanliness, fueling vehicles, and managing inventory.
- Ensure accurate recording and verification of all relevant vehicle information.
Essential Qualifications
- Completion of at least Grade 10 education.
- Possession of a valid Class 4 Driver's License and ability to provide a Driver's Abstract.
- Proficiency with computers and quick adaptability to new software applications.
- Familiarity with operating hand and air tools, pressure washers, and welders is advantageous.
- Capability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs, including tires and canopies.
