Works Supervisor - Planting Operations

Role Overview

We seek a dedicated Works Supervisor to join our enthusiastic and collaborative Planting Operations team in Upper Hutt. This permanent position involves coordinating contractors and managing operational projects focused on planting, erosion control, and environmental restoration throughout the Wellington region.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage contractors and crews delivering the planting and environmental work programmes.
• Plan and coordinate operational logistics, scheduling, and resources to ensure efficient programme delivery.
• Build and maintain strong partnerships with landowners, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Monitor assets and provide regular progress reports on completed works.
• Ensure site-specific health and safety protocols are implemented and maintained.
• Participate in field-based operational tasks as required.
• Support delivery of riparian restoration, erosion control, and sustainable land management schemes.
• Ensure all work is completed on schedule, meets specifications, and adheres to quality standards.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience in supervising contractors, work crews, or managing operational programmes.
• Background in agriculture, forestry, environmental restoration, infrastructure, or related fields.
• Strong organizational and logistical capabilities with prioritization skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with relationship management expertise.
• Team-oriented mindset with a dedication to health, safety, and wellbeing.
• Competency with computers, including Microsoft Office and spreadsheets.
• Ability to work independently, address problems, and make solid operational decisions.
• Holder of a valid New Zealand full driver’s license.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience in riparian planting, erosion control, or environmental restoration projects.
• Familiarity with GIS, GPS, or asset management systems.
• Certifications or experience with ATV/LUV, 4WD, trailer operation, chainsaw use, and Growsafe.

Remuneration

The total salary range is $73,378 to $110,068 NZD per annum, with a midpoint of $91,723, dependent on experience and qualifications.
