About the Role and Company

This role is within Cargill's protein and salt division, delivering wholesome, top-quality meat products to various customers including foodservice providers, grocery outlets, manufacturers, and exporters. The position is based in High River, Alberta and offers full-time work with shifts on the first and second schedules.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute time-critical tasks involving deboning, trimming, and preparing both standard and customized meat cuts using knives.
- Precisely cut, trim, and prepare products according to client specifications.
- Operate specialized knives and equipment while adhering to workplace health, safety, and food handling standards.
- Maintain equipment by ensuring blades and tools are sharpened and kept in optimal condition as per company guidelines.
- Uphold high levels of sanitation and personal hygiene.
- Provide training to entry-level staff and supervise fellow butchers and meat cutters.
- Carry out additional duties relevant to the butcher occupation as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada for Cargill.
- Minimum age requirement of 18 years old.
- At least three years of experience in meat cutting, particularly involving beef and pork, in an industrial livestock manufacturing environment using manual knives and band saws within the past five years.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting hourly wage of $26.25.
- Benefits governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement including paid vacation, extended health and dental coverage, vision care, pension plan participation, short-term disability, life insurance, employee assistance programs, and tuition reimbursement.
