Role Summary
The Supervisor role at Café Chavela is a full-time, on-site position responsible for managing the café's daily operations. This includes overseeing the café floor, coordinating staff schedules, and ensuring high service standards are consistently maintained. The Supervisor will support and mentor team members, manage guest interactions and concerns, uphold a clean and safe environment, and facilitate communication with management regarding operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day floor operations and coordinate team schedules.
- Maintain service quality and address guest inquiries or complaints professionally.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to support smooth operations.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures of the café.
- Handle cash transactions and operate point-of-sale systems accurately.
- Implement café policies and support training for new staff members.
- Create and sustain a positive, collaborative workplace culture.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience leading or supervising teams in hospitality, retail, or related customer service environments.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, capable of interacting professionally with diverse guests and colleagues.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities to effectively prioritize and handle busy shifts.
- Basic proficiency in cash handling and point-of-sale systems with attention to detail.
- Commitment to maintaining cleanliness, food safety, and workplace safety standards.
- Dependable and proactive, with sound decision-making and problem-solving skills during service hours.
- Flexible availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Experience in cafés, restaurants, or food services is preferred; knowledge of coffee and pastries is a plus.
