Role Summary

We are seeking a Welding Engineer to join our Quality Department, reporting directly to the Quality Manager or their delegate. The successful candidate must obtain and maintain appropriate welding certification, starting with the European Welding Technologist (EWT/IWT) as per ISO14731 requirements. Additional certifications may be required based on evolving international standards or company needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform all duties outlined in ISO14731 Annex B, supporting the company’s management systems and standards.
• Undertake necessary training for new or existing equipment and processes.
• Coordinate welding-related management activities.
• Prepare timely and professional reports utilizing company tools such as computers, digital cameras, and NDT equipment.
• Utilize various computer systems including CAD, BAAN, LIKV, LIDA, email, Word, and Excel to support the role.
• Communicate and liaise efficiently with internal departments and external companies as required.
• Investigate production, quality, and welding-related issues diligently and professionally.
• Promote continuous improvement within the company.
• Support and develop quality management systems and uphold certifications such as ISO9001, ISO3834-2, and EN1090.
• Assist and collaborate with fellow engineers and inspectors in their duties.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections and work activities, introducing new records as needed to showcase product quality and control inspections.
• Manage welding activities company-wide in cooperation with various teams.
• Conduct or assist with welder certifications and testing.
• Continuously monitor welding quality, report findings to production and management with relevant KPIs.
• Perform weld testing through visual inspection, leak testing, or other methods as directed.
• Develop and document Welding Procedure Qualification Reports, Welding Procedure Specifications, and related documentation to ensure compliant welding management practices.
• Support additional quality department functions as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Certification as a European Welding Technologist (EWT/IWT).
• Proven experience in steel fabrication processes.
• Background in quality development roles.
• Competent computer skills; proficiency in CAD is notably advantageous.
• Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
• Willing to travel as necessary.
