About the Role
Join Mott MacDonald in Auckland as a Water Technician within our expert water utility monitoring team, focusing on vital wastewater and water network projects that positively impact communities across Aotearoa. This role involves hands-on and mostly outdoor work, installing and maintaining flow, level, and logging instruments in varied settings such as wastewater manholes, stormwater pipelines, treatment facilities, and above-ground instrument enclosures. It demands practical skills, a proactive mindset, and enthusiasm for addressing technical issues that protect the environment and public health.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and maintain instrumentation for flow, level, and monitoring in wastewater and stormwater systems.
- Operate safely in diverse field environments including confined manholes, pipelines, instrument cabinets, and treatment sites.
- Conduct site work with an emphasis on safety, including occasional night shifts.
- Validate and review monitoring data for accuracy and equipment performance.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules for multiple locations.
- Interpret data trends and convey findings to engineers, scientists, and management staff.
- Support real-time monitoring initiatives that underpin infrastructure upgrades and ensure environmental compliance.
Candidate Profile
- Physically capable and committed to safety, willing to enter confined spaces when required.
- Fit for duty with the ability to pass a comprehensive medical examination.
- Holds a valid New Zealand full driver’s license and authorized work rights in NZ.
- Comfortable working in physically demanding environments, particularly wastewater systems.
- Experience in plumbing, drainlaying, construction, or general contracting is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Proficient with basic computer programs including Word and Excel.
- Flexible to work varied hours, including occasional night shifts.
- Motivated to learn, develop skills, and contribute within a value-driven team.
