About Our Organization

We are dedicated to responsible and sustainable water resource management by focusing on strategic planning, enhancing water efficiency, promoting conservation, resilience, and environmental stewardship, and delivering innovative water solutions. Our cross-functional teams collaborate across diverse fields including Water Resources, Sustainability, ESG, Engineering, Operations, Infrastructure, Procurement, Environmental Management, Risk, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Government Relations, Research, Utilities, and Executive Leadership to enhance water security, optimize usage, manage water-related risks, and support long-term environmental and community resilience.

The Role

We are searching for a skilled Water Resources Manager to spearhead water resource planning, conservation initiatives, water efficiency programs, water risk evaluation, resource assessments, regulatory compliance, stakeholder collaboration, and sustainable water projects. This role entails crafting and executing strategies to boost water security and efficiency while balancing operational, environmental, regulatory, infrastructure, community, and climate resilience demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and execute water resource strategies, policies, frameworks, management plans, and annual action plans congruent with organizational and environmental goals.
  • Create comprehensive long-term water resource plans addressing water availability, demand, supply consistency, conservation, resilience, and sustainable consumption.
  • Evaluate current and projected water demand and supply, consumption trends, operational needs, and constraints.
  • Conduct water resource analyses, including water-balance studies, demand investigations, catchment evaluations, and risk assessments.
  • Develop water management schemes encompassing abstraction, treatment, distribution, usage, reuse, discharge, conservation, and monitoring.
  • Implement water efficiency and conservation programs aimed at minimizing freshwater usage and enhancing resource productivity.
  • Identify and mitigate water wastage, leakage, excessive consumption, and inefficient practices.
  • Design water reuse and recycling strategies involving greywater, treated wastewater, process water, rainwater harvesting, and alternative sources.
  • Evaluate alternative water supply options and create business cases considering technical, environmental, financial, operational, and regulatory parameters.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations on infrastructure, treatment, distribution, storage, metering, monitoring, and efficiency improvements.
  • Review infrastructure needs to enhance system reliability, efficiency, resilience, and lifecycle management.
  • Set water usage baselines, targets, KPIs, and monitoring frameworks.
  • Maintain water balances tracking sources, consumption, losses, reuse, treatment, and discharge.
  • Monitor water consumption and performance across facilities, projects, and operations.
  • Analyze data to detect trends, inefficiencies, anomalies, risks, and business opportunities.
  • Prepare dashboards, reports, performance summaries, and presentations for management and executives.
  • Establish and track KPIs like consumption, intensity, withdrawal, reuse rates, leakage, discharge quality, conservation outcomes, and risk exposure.
  • Coordinate water audits identifying consumption reduction opportunities in operations and infrastructure.
  • Manage water metering, monitoring, data gathering, reporting, verification, and quality control processes.
  • Assess physical water risks such as scarcity, drought, flooding, water quality decline, supply interruptions, groundwater depletion, and climate impacts.
  • Develop water risk registers and resilience, mitigation, contingency, and adaptation plans.
  • Integrate water risks within enterprise risk management, climate risk, sustainability, ESG, and business continuity policies.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in water resource management, environmental management, water engineering, hydrology, conservation, sustainability, infrastructure, utilities, or environmental consulting.
  • Familiarity with sectors like utilities, engineering, construction, energy, real estate, agriculture, manufacturing, or other water-intensive industries is beneficial.
  • Deep knowledge of water security, conservation, efficiency, and sustainable use practices.
  • Proven track record in formulating and executing water management plans, projects, assessments, or programs.
  • Expertise in water balance, demand, supply, consumption, losses, reuse, recycling, treatment, and discharge processes.
  • Proficient in conducting water audits, resource and risk assessments, and efficiency evaluations.
  • Understanding of physical water risks and climate-related impacts on water resources.
  • Experience in designing water risk mitigation, resilience, adaptation, and contingency strategies.
  • Strong grasp of water infrastructure, treatment, monitoring, metering, distribution, storage, and efficiency tools and technologies.
  • Knowledge of water reuse, recycling, alternative water sources, and resource recovery initiatives.
  • Comprehension of environmental regulations, water permitting, compliance standards, and water quality requirements.
  • Skilled in liaising with government bodies, regulators, municipalities, utilities, communities, consultants, and sector stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities for interpreting water consumption data, technical and environmental assessments, and risk analyses.
  • Competence in developing KPIs, dashboards, water balances, performance reports, business cases, and executive presentations.
  • Project management experience overseeing water-related initiatives, technical projects, consultants, contractors, and cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Understanding of sustainability, ESG frameworks, climate resilience, environmental stewardship, and water governance.
  • Experience supplying water data for sustainability, ESG, regulatory, customer, or investor disclosures.
  • Financial acumen to assess investment needs, lifecycle costs, savings, and business benefits.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and influencing skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with water management, GIS, environmental, asset management, data analysis, ERP, sustainability, or monitoring platforms.
  • Knowledge of recognized water resource, environmental, stewardship, or sustainability standards is advantageous.
  • Ability to balance environmental, operational, regulatory, infrastructure, financial, and community priorities.
