Job description
Role Overview
Fraser Coast Regional Council invites motivated individuals to join as Water Industry Plant Operator / Labourers, focusing on water and wastewater construction and maintenance within the Hervey Bay region. This permanent full-time position offers a salary at Operations Level 5 of $74,161 plus superannuation, supplemented by an annual allowance of $2,869.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform water and wastewater maintenance and construction using specialized plant, fleet, and labour skills.
- Operate and maintain Council vehicles, tools, and machinery responsibly, including completing pre-start inspections and basic upkeep.
- Support plant operations and provide technical guidance to team leaders and plumbing tradesmen.
- Ensure safe working practices are followed, including safe work method statements, risk evaluations, traffic management, and public safety measures.
- Deliver courteous and professional customer service on site, escalating issues as necessary.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with trenching, excavation, pipe laying, valve/fittings replacement, and confined space operations.
- Capability to safely carry out physical labour tasks such as digging and lifting.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service abilities.
- Familiarity with mobile devices and work management software.
- Possession of a Class C or CA driver’s licence.
- General Construction Induction (White Card) certification.
- MR (Medium Rigid) licence.
- Willingness and ability to acquire relevant plant operation competencies, for example, bobcat and excavator qualifications.
