Warehouse Lead Operator - Permanent Night Shift

Role Overview

As a Warehouse Lead Operator at the Athlone facility, you will oversee the nightly warehouse activities ensuring compliance with SOPs, safety, and cGMP standards. This full-time role operates during permanent night shifts with scheduled hours of 8.25 hours per shift, averaging 37.5 hours each week across 12x5 operations (Sunday 23:00 to 07:00, Monday to Friday 22:45 to 07:00).

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate daily warehouse processes during the night shift to meet production deadlines maintaining strict GMP adherence.
• Ensure all training programs, safety protocols, and compliance standards related to night shift warehouse equipment and operations are current.
• Maintain and uphold the Warehouse Quality System by strictly following all relevant SOPs, policies and cGMP requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges promptly as they emerge.
• Serve as the chief point of contact for night shift warehouse operational concerns, ensuring proper escalation to warehouse management and smooth handover to the day shift.
• Guide, mentor, and prioritize tasks for night shift warehouse staff to facilitate safe, compliant, and efficient workflow execution.
• Conduct routine warehouse activities, including materials dispensation and inspections supporting manufacturing schedules.
• Function as Subject Matter Expert for material sampling, inspections, stock management, and related warehouse operations during night shifts.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying operational weaknesses, suggesting solutions, and implementing approved improvements.
• Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety requirements by adhering to all relevant regulations and protocols.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Validation, Engineering, and Quality Assurance as necessary.
• Provide training and onboarding support for new or junior warehouse associates during night shifts.
• Prepare and submit performance reports for night shift operations, including escalation issues and handover notes to supervisors.
• Develop and update SOPs, forms, logbooks, and job descriptions as needed.
• Recognize and initiate deviation reports, conduct investigations, and ensure timely resolution.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings representing the warehouse operations.
• Adopt and embody the core competencies promoted by Alexion Pharmaceutical.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience managing warehouse activities in a commercial cGMP manufacturing environment with leadership or coordination responsibilities.
• Working knowledge of inventory management software such as SAP or equivalents.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and Copilot.
• Understanding of Artificial Intelligence and digital tools with the ability to implement digital solutions in warehouse operations.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving aptitudes.
• Comprehensive understanding of regulatory guidelines and GMP standards.
• Completed cGMP training in current or previous roles.
• Forklift operator certification or willingness to maintain mandatory warehouse equipment training.

Preferred Experience

• Training in IATA and ADR for sample shipments.
• Formal education in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain management.
• Experience with digital transformation, automation, AI tools, dashboards, workflow optimization, or system enhancement in warehousing or GMP manufacturing contexts.
