About The Role

We are seeking a diligent Ward Porter to join our dynamic team at Emerson Green, Bristol, aimed at supporting exceptional patient care across the hospital.

• Annual salary of £24,784.50
• Full-time position with 37.5 hours per week

Working hours feature a flexible shift system between 7am and 9pm.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently transport patients and goods within the hospital environment.
• Accompany patients to various departments including theatre, recovery, radiology, and transport upon discharge.
• Maintain clear and accurate communication with patients, their relatives, hospital staff, and visitors to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
• Manage deliveries by accepting, properly storing boxes, and disposing of rubbish appropriately.
• Assist in medical gas management, including handling and exchanging CD-sized oxygen cylinders, checking for leaks, and adhering to safety protocols.
• Ensure oxygen cylinders are transported and stored following health and safety standards.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a good level of basic education.
• Minimum of one year experience in a similar role or caring setting.
• Proficient in patient moving and handling techniques.
• Understanding of health and safety practices especially relating to oxygen storage and handling.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary care teams.
• Exhibits sound judgment, empathy, sensitivity, and the ability to work under pressure.
• Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet demands.
