Job description

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated VMC Machine Operator to handle machining tasks for various components in alignment with production demands. The role involves operating Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) and ensuring the products meet stringent quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate VMC machines to manufacture components according to production schedules.
  • Interpret engineering blueprints, machining instructions, and procedural documents accurately.
  • Perform machine setup including tool loading, tool offset adjustments, and loading/unloading workpieces.
  • Adjust tool offsets, work coordinates, and machining parameters as needed.
  • Execute CNC and VMC programs and carry out minor authorized program modifications.
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring tools like Vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other relevant gauges.
  • Ensure all components conform to the specified dimensional tolerances.
  • Vigilantly monitor machining processes and detect any abnormal machine noises, tool degradation, vibrations, or quality deviations.
  • Replace cutting tools when worn or damaged and sustain appropriate tool condition.
  • Adhere to production plans and successfully meet assigned production goals.
  • Maintain 5S standards, keeping the work area and machinery clean and organized.
  • Observe all safety norms, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) protocols, and machine operation regulations.
  • Document production metrics including quantities produced, rejections or rework instances, tool changes, and other vital data.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, and Production departments to address machining or quality-related challenges.
  • Focus on minimizing wastage, rework, machine downtime, and rejected parts.
  • Conduct basic machine checks and promptly report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
  • Comply with company policies, work guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
