Job description

Job Overview

The Machine Operator will be responsible for operating assigned Vertical Machining Centers (VMC), Computer Numerical Control (CNC), or grinding machines efficiently and safely in line with the production demands at Agni Motors, Bengaluru.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate designated machines following safety and production guidelines.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, process documentation, and specifications accurately.
  • Correctly load and unload materials, parts, fixtures, and tools.
  • Perform machine and tool settings, handle tool changes, and apply offset corrections as needed.
  • Adhere to established process parameters, cycle times, and machining sequences.
  • Conduct inspections during and after machining using instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, dial gauges, plug and ring gauges, and other specified measurement tools.
  • Ensure manufactured components comply with dimensional and tolerance requirements.
  • Monitor machine functioning and immediately report unusual noises, vibrations, tool wear, errors, or quality concerns.
  • Maintain tool condition, replacing tools that are worn or damaged.
  • Meet daily production targets and cycle-time standards.
  • Reduce scrap, rework, tool usage, and material waste to a minimum.
  • Perform in-process quality checks at specified intervals and maintain documentation.
  • Properly separate acceptable, rejected, and rework components to prevent mixing.
  • Maintain 5S standards and housekeeping in the work area.
  • Observe all safety protocols, use personal protective equipment, and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Carry out routine machine checks including coolant, lubrication, and pneumatic/hydraulic conditions.
  • Report breakdowns or maintenance needs promptly to supervisors.
  • Document production records, rejection reports, and tool change logs accurately.
  • Collaborate effectively with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding quality, safety, discipline, and attendance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives like productivity enhancement, quality improvements, and cost controls.
  • Assist supervisors with trial runs, new product development, and process optimizations.
  • Take good care of company machinery, tools, fixtures, gauges, and assets.
  • Participate in rotational shifts and other production duties as assigned.

Additional Information

Shift work is required on a rotational basis. Strict compliance with safety and quality standards is expected. Collaboration across departments is vital for smooth production flow.
