Role Summary

The Visual Merchandiser plays a key role in enhancing the guest experience by creating and upholding visually appealing presentations that align with company strategies. Expertise includes advanced merchandising techniques such as mannequin styling, fixture blocking, mapping, and in-store marketing implementations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize daily and weekly visual merchandising tasks with guidance from leadership, aligning with sales targets, events, and promotions.
  • Perform weekly visual assessments and collaborate with store leaders to enhance visual presentation quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Evaluate and manage the execution of visual standards throughout the store to boost appearance and merchandising effectiveness.
  • Implement Target’s visual merchandising strategy and in-store marketing elements across relevant store areas.
  • Ensure accurate and inspiring visual displays in partnership with leadership, including setting overhead spotlights to emphasize key merchandise.
  • Address merchandising challenges with leader support to maintain motivating displays.
  • Use daily team interactions to train and improve team members’ skills in visual standards, signage, and sales-driving displays.
  • Maintain organized storage areas, update signage tools, and appropriately set non-planogram marketing materials.
  • Assist in onboarding and continuous training of team members to close skill gaps through hands-on learning.
  • Promote inclusivity by respecting diverse perspectives and creating equitable experiences.
  • Adhere to all safety and compliance policies, promptly reporting hazards and working safely.
  • Interact warmly with guests during daily tasks, assisting with their needs and expressing appreciation for choosing Target.
  • Fulfill additional duties as required to meet business needs.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess 1 to 2 years of experience in visual merchandising.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Strong business acumen involving knowledge of sales margins, profitability, and promotional strategies.
  • Creative flair and trend awareness that align with Target’s brand image.
  • Leadership skills to guide and motivate store teams in maintaining visual merchandising standards.
  • Ability to effectively use multiple communication devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology.
  • Capable of independent work as well as team collaboration.
  • Excellent task prioritization and workload management skills.
  • Friendly and helpful demeanor when engaging with guests and coworkers.
  • Good communication skills and ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Role Requirements

  • Ability to access all store areas to address issues.
  • Operate equipment including Work Assist Vehicles and pallet jacks.
  • Comprehend and interpret instructions, reports, and information accurately.
  • Handle cash register operations as necessary.
  • Ability to climb ladders when required.
  • Manage merchandise handling, including regularly lifting items up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 44 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be available for flexible scheduling including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak periods.
  • Reliable and punctual attendance is essential.
  • No guaranteed minimum of 40 work hours per week; hours may fluctuate based on business needs.
  • Must remain physically mobile and active throughout scheduled shifts.
