Visual Merchandiser

Overview

This role at Target focuses on enhancing customer experience through compelling visual displays that align with the company's standards and strategies. The Visual Merchandiser plays a critical role in store presentation by utilizing various merchandising techniques, mannequin styling, and in-store marketing elements to inspire and engage guests.

Core Duties

• Plan and organize daily and weekly visual merchandising tasks in line with sales objectives, promotions, and store events.
• Conduct weekly visual evaluations and collaborate with store leadership to optimize visual presentation and improve guest interactions.
• Ensure consistent application of visual standards throughout the store to elevate overall aesthetic and effectiveness.
• Implement Target’s visual merchandising strategies and in-store marketing components in all relevant areas.
• Manage and validate visual displays, including fixture blocking and overhead lighting, to highlight key merchandise effectively.
• Address and resolve merchandising challenges proactively, adjusting setups to maintain inspiring and cohesive presentations.
• Deliver training and mentoring to team members to enhance their visual merchandising skills and knowledge.
• Maintain a well-organized backroom space and regularly update signage and display materials.
• Demonstrate inclusivity and ethics in all interactions, fostering a respectful and equitable environment.
• Adhere strictly to safety policies, promptly addressing hazards to ensure a secure workplace.
• Create welcoming shopping experiences by greeting guests and providing assistance tailored to their needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in visual merchandising.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Business insight related to profitability and margin; creativity to influence sales through design.
• Good understanding of relevant fashion trends and retail style influenced by the Target brand.
• Experience leading and motivating teams to uphold merchandising processes.
• Effective communication with multiple devices and familiarity with handheld scanners and related retail technology.
• Strong independent work ethic as well as teamwork skills.
• Capability to manage tasks and priorities efficiently.
• Positive, helpful demeanor toward guests and team members.
• Ability to maintain focus and composure in a fast-paced setting while managing multiple priorities.

Physical and Work Requirements

• Access all store areas to respond promptly to needs.
• Operate equipment such as Work Assist Vehicles and pallet jacks.
• Interpret various forms of information and instructions accurately.
• Handle cash register tasks when necessary.
• Climb ladders and manage merchandise lifting up to 15 pounds frequently and up to 44 pounds occasionally without assistance.
• Adopt flexible schedules as required, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with attendance reliability.
• Remain physically active and mobile throughout shifts of varying length.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly starting pay range for this position is $24.50 to $26.50, with a full potential range extending to $41.65 per hour based on various factors such as labor market conditions, education, experience, and certifications.
