Utility Worker - Environmental Services

Position Overview

The Utility Worker reports directly to the Supervisor of Facility Support Services and is responsible for performing consistent and routine tasks to maintain cleanliness in designated areas. This includes following proper cleaning and disinfection procedures which ensure sanitary conditions, all while considering the needs of patients, visitors, and staff at the facility. The role involves participating in on-the-job training, clarifying duties as needed, assisting colleagues, and upholding professionalism in workplace conduct.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain assigned areas to meet established cleanliness and sanitation standards using appropriate techniques.
• Provide support and guidance to coworkers and foster a cooperative work environment.
• Communicate suggestions, concerns, and inquiries through proper channels.
• Complete duties efficiently and cost-effectively, managing time and resources wisely.
• Adhere strictly to all hospital and department policies, including patient confidentiality.
• Promote and follow safety guidelines, reporting potential hazards and participating in fire safety measures.
• Engage in the department's quality management initiatives and continuing education opportunities.
• Perform related tasks as required to support facility operations.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Completion of Grade 12 or GED, or relevant work experience.
• Familiarity with cleaning methods applicable to healthcare environments is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills are essential for effective teamwork and interaction.
• Multilingual abilities are a plus, particularly French language competence.

Work Schedule and Compensation

• Permanent full-time position with 75 hours scheduled biweekly.

Hourly wage ranges from $20.74 to $21.56.
