Overview
SSP Canada manages several dining venues within Ottawa International Airport and is seeking Utility Workers to ensure cleanliness and sanitation of these restaurant spaces. This vital role focuses on maintaining hygienic environments for both guests and staff, playing a key part in delivering a pleasant dining experience.
Primary Duties
- Uphold guest satisfaction by thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing work areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of all surfaces and equipment such as floors, walls, windows, grills, refrigerators, storage rooms, and service counters.
- Dispose of waste appropriately in designated zones.
- Clear and reset tables between service periods and transfer service ware to kitchen areas.
- Scrape and wash dirty dishes, pots, and pans by hand or using dishwashers, then restock them accordingly.
- Utilize specific cleaning chemicals and may operate heavy cleaning machinery to meet hygiene standards.
- Assist guests by responding to specific needs and communicate special requests to servers or supervisors.
- Load and unload supply deliveries, moving items between storage and workspaces.
- Stock food items, check temperatures, and rotate inventory as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
- At least six months of experience in retail or food service sectors preferred.
- High school diploma is desirable.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; must understand and use English effectively to interact with guests and follow instructions.
- Proven ability to manage guest service challenges professionally.
- Possession of a food handlers permit where legally required.
- Brand certification as applicable.
- Capability to stand for extended periods and work in tight spaces as needed.
