Job description
Role Overview
The Utility/Porter at SSP America plays a critical role in ensuring that restaurants and their facilities remain clean, sanitized, and welcoming for both guests and staff members. This position demands a warm and approachable demeanor alongside a commitment to performing demanding essential tasks with high standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a positive experience to guests by maintaining clean, sanitary work environments.
- Clean various surfaces and equipment including floors, ceiling tiles, walls, windows, worktables, hoods, vents, grills, refrigerators, service counters, and storage areas.
- Dispose of refuse properly, transferring waste to designated disposal locations.
- Clear and reset tables in dining spaces following guest seatings and transport service ware to kitchens for cleaning.
- Scrape food residue from dishes, pots, and pans; wash them manually or use dishwashers and return them to proper storage.
- Utilize designated cleaning chemicals to sanitize equipment, possibly involving heavy machinery.
- Assist guests with specific requests and communicate special needs to servers or supervisors.
- Load and unload supply trucks, managing inventory movement between storage and work areas.
- Stock, rotate, and monitor food items including temperature checks to ensure food safety.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum six months of experience in retail or food service environments.
- High school diploma is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to understand, read, and speak English effectively.
- Proven ability to handle guest service issues professionally.
- Possession of food handler permits as regulated by applicable laws.
- Completion of brand-specific certifications as needed.
- Capability to remember and explain various menu offerings.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods and work within confined workspaces.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly pay rate of $19.00.
