Overview

USIC is America's leading provider in underground utility damage prevention and advanced infrastructure services, conducting over 84 million utility locates annually across telecommunications, electric, gas, water, and sewer sectors. We are seeking dedicated individuals who enjoy working outdoors, value safety and quality, and aim to start a rewarding career in utility locating. Prior experience is not mandatory as comprehensive paid training is provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and accurately locate underground utilities such as telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer lines.
  • Thoroughly inspect designated areas, precisely mark utility locations, complete all required documentation, and photograph each locate site.

Work Conditions

These full-time daytime roles often operate under a 48-hour locate turnaround timeline, necessitating work on certain holidays and weekends. Flexibility to work overtime, weekend shifts, on-call duties including nights and weekends is essential based on business requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Capability and willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions; previous outdoor work is advantageous.
  • Comfort and proficiency with technology and company systems.
  • Availability for flexible work hours including overtime, weekend, and on-call shifts.
  • Successful completion of a drug screening test, due to the safety-sensitive nature of the role.
  • Valid driver's license paired with a clean, safe driving record.
  • Physical ability to work in confined spaces, walk extensively, bend down, and lift items weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Color vision adequate to differentiate the color coding used for wiring and marking underground utilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret locate tickets, maps, and technical drawings.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members, clients, contractors, and property owners.
