About the Role
USIC, the national leader in underground utility damage prevention and infrastructure services, seeks dedicated individuals to join our team as Utility Locators in Kingsland, GA. This role involves independent outdoor field work where you will be responsible for accurately identifying and marking underground utilities such as telecommunications, electric, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems. The position emphasizes quality, safety, and efficiency with a focus on supporting public safety and infrastructure protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and precisely locate various underground utility lines in designated areas.
- Complete comprehensive documentation and capture photographs for each locate task.
- Ensure timely completion of locates, typically within a 48-hour turnaround, which may involve working the day after holidays and some weekends.
Work Schedule and Conditions
This is a full-time daytime role requiring flexibility to work overtime, weekend shifts, and on-call shifts, including nights and weekends depending on business needs. You will operate independently in the field using a company-provided vehicle equipped with advanced technology and ticket management systems.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Comfortable working outdoors regardless of weather conditions, with previous outdoor experience considered advantageous.
- Technologically proficient to use company equipment effectively.
- Ability to pass a drug screening test, maintain a valid driver’s license, and have a clean driving record.
- Physically capable of working in confined spaces, walking, bending, and lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to distinguish color codes for wiring and marking underground utilities.
- Competent in reading and interpreting locate tickets, maps, and prints.
- Excellent communication skills for coordination with colleagues, clients, contractors, and homeowners.
