About the Role
USIC, America's leading company in underground utility damage prevention and advanced infrastructure services, is seeking dedicated individuals to join their team as Utility Locators in St Charles, MO. The company performs over 84 million utility locates annually across a wide variety of utilities including telecommunications, electric, gas, water, and sewer systems. USIC emphasizes quality, safety, and innovation in protecting essential infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities
- Independently and safely locate various underground utilities such as telecom, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer lines.
- Perform thorough searches within assigned areas, accurately marking utility locations, completing required documentation, and photographing each locate.
- Work consistently with a 48-hour turnaround for many locate requests, which may occasionally require working after holidays, weekends, and overtime shifts.
- Utilize company-issued vehicles and advanced ticket and claims management software to ensure precise and efficient field operations.
Candidate Requirements
- Willingness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, with prior outdoor experience favorable but not mandatory.
- Comfortable using technology and company-provided tools.
- Flexible to work overtime, weekends, on-call shifts, including nights and holidays as organizational needs dictate.
- Must pass a drug screening due to the safety-sensitive nature of the role.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record.
- Physically capable of working in confined spaces, and able to walk, bend, and lift items up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to distinguish colors used for wiring and marking underground utilities.
- Competent in reading and interpreting locate tickets, maps, and technical prints.
- Effective communication skills to interact well with colleagues, clients, contractors, and homeowners.
