Role Overview

As a Utility Locator, you will acquire training on safety regulations and the techniques to identify underground utility lines. You will work alongside seasoned utility locators, employ specialized tools, and record findings digitally to confirm the safety and efficiency of construction projects. This position involves operating in various weather conditions, performing field and classroom training, and occasionally responding to after-hours and emergency calls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply utility locating methods, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
  • Gain knowledge of local utility infrastructure and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with experienced Utility Locators to mark underground utility lines.
  • Use utility locating devices and digital mapping tools to document findings.
  • Drive company vehicle responsibly and follow safe driving policies.
  • Perform duties in diverse weather conditions and work flexible hours as needed.
  • Complete all required training sessions and maintain punctual attendance.
  • Carry out manhole entry using assigned safety equipment.
  • Handle physical activities including lifting up to 50 pounds and working at heights or confined spaces.
  • Respond to emergency calls during scheduled on-call rotations.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Valid non-provisional state driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Independent work in remote areas, overhead arm use, fine hand movements, bending, stooping, standing, walking, and lifting up to 55 pounds regularly.
  • Occasional use of ladders, confined space work, and stair climbing.
