Responsibilities

In your role as a Utility Locator, your main task involves identifying, locating, and marking underground utilities to prevent accidental damages or service interruptions during excavation activities. You will need to adhere to industry norms, company policies, and operational procedures. Specific duties include:

• Locating cables accurately and verifying their positions against blueprints and designated plans
• Maintaining company equipment in compliance with service and safety requirements
• Performing any other duties assigned as needed

Qualifications

You should be someone who embraces safety daily, consistently produces high-quality results, and enjoys hands-on problem-solving. Long-term projects and teamwork in varied outdoor conditions should appeal to you. This role demands considerable independence and initiative, as well as sound judgment interpreting equipment readings for precise locating.

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Previous experience with underground utility construction is advantageous
• General knowledge of construction practices
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, electronic quarter sections, and plat maps
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including snow, rain, and wind, with overtime as necessary
• Valid driver's license with a clean record; possessing a CDL (A) license is a plus
• Physical fitness to lift up to 50 lbs and perform activities involving bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, twisting, reaching overhead, and working in confined spaces

Additional Responsibilities and Expectations

• Manage and take responsibility for personal actions and all personnel, vehicles, and equipment under your control
• Immediately report any personal or vehicle/equipment accidents/incidents to supervisors and corporate offices and assist with investigations
• Work independently and use strong judgment to efficiently manage and execute daily assignments
