Role Overview
As a Construction Field Inspector reporting to the Director of Construction, you will oversee Fiber to the Home (FTTH) build projects, ensuring strict adherence to design plans, permits, and construction standards. Your duties include conducting thorough field inspections, coordinating project close-outs, and upholding Health and Safety compliance. This pivotal role demands comprehensive knowledge of FTTH infrastructure, underground utilities, and onsite operations, with a focus on meeting quality, safety, and project timelines. The position offers opportunities for professional growth and advancement within the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections on FTTH construction sites to confirm compliance with outside plant construction designs, permits, and plans.
- Verify job site safety standards are met, confirm insurance coverage, and ensure contractors have completed proper onboarding documentation.
- Monitor fieldwork progress relative to project schedules, managing documentation such as daily reports and material requirements.
- Collaborate with Senior Construction Manager and Project Manager to track and validate contractor performance against forecasts.
- Review construction plans in detail to understand project scope and specifications and communicate these effectively to field teams.
- Coordinate review and completion of "as-built" construction records with the Construction Manager, ensuring timely distribution.
- Manage project close-out activities with clients to obtain final approvals.
- Work in partnership with Operations teams to facilitate smooth project turnovers for sales and network drop crews.
Qualifications and Skills
- Extensive knowledge of operating both light and heavy construction equipment relevant to build and maintenance.
- Strong awareness of construction hazards and safety protocols required on job sites.
- Ability to professionally manage challenging interactions with customers and employees.
- Competence in organizing, issuing, monitoring, and quality-checking fieldwork in a positive and efficient manner.
- Excellent communication skills suited to collaborative team environments.
- Experience handling Damage Prevention and Incident Reporting procedures.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license is mandatory.
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline is preferred but not compulsory.
