SSP Canada operates various dining establishments at Vancouver International Airport, including Whistler Taphouse & Grill, Lift Bar and Grill, and Urban Crave among others. The company is dedicated to delivering outstanding service and offering a wide selection of culinary experiences for guests.
Role Overview
The Utility / Dishwasher role is based in a secure airport environment requiring a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC). Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada and able to provide government-issued identification for airport security clearance according to Transport Canada regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure positive guest experiences by maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in work areas.
- Clean all surfaces and equipment thoroughly, including floors, ceilings, walls, windows, worktables, hoods, vents, grills, refrigerators, service counters, and storage spaces.
- Remove waste materials to designated disposal areas.
- Clear and reset dining tables between seatings and transport service ware to the kitchen for cleaning.
- Scrape leftover food from dishes, pots, and pans, wash them manually or load dishwashers, and properly store cleaned items.
- Use specialized cleaning chemicals to sanitize equipment in compliance with sanitary standards, sometimes involving heavy machinery.
- Assist guests by addressing their specific requirements and communicate special needs to servers or supervisors.
- Unload and load supply trucks, transferring goods between storage and work zones.
- Stock, check expiration dates, rotate items, and monitor the temperature control of food products.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- At least 6 months experience in retail or food service sectors.
- High school diploma is preferred.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read, speak, and comprehend English effectively for guest interaction and instruction adherence.
- Experience managing guest service issues.
- Possession of a valid food handler’s permit as required by law.
- Brand certification as applicable.
- Physical ability to stand and work in confined spaces for prolonged durations.
Compensation and Benefits
- Wage: $21.25 per hour for external candidates; $25.00 per hour for internal employees.
