Unix Linux System Administrator

Role Overview

This role requires comprehensive administration of Linux and Unix environments, including managing servers like RHEL, Solaris, AIX, and HP-UX. The position involves handling cluster management software such as Veritas and GPFS, performing patch and vulnerability management, and troubleshooting OS and hardware-related issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage Unix/Linux system administration tasks across various platforms.
• Operate cluster management tools like Veritas and GPFS effectively.
• Execute patch management and vulnerability mitigation strategies.
• Diagnose and resolve operating system and hardware problems.
• Implement OS and firmware patching processes with extensive experience.
• Utilize patch management tools such as BigFix and SCCM.
• Assess patches and recommend deployment plans accordingly.
• Automate tasks before and after patch deployment.
• Understand RAID technologies including RAID 0+1, RAID 1, RAID 5 at a basic level.
• Apply clustering knowledge such as geo clusters and multi-node active/passive clusters.
• Carry out BIOS and firmware upgrades.
• Manage server management tools and maintain logs systematically.

Requirements

• Possess a bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
• Bring at least 8 years of experience in Linux/Unix system administration.
• Exhibit strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Demonstrate solid interpersonal skills.
• Have prior experience working within SLA-governed environments.
• Be hands-on with operational tasks rather than solely managing personnel.
• Lead teams effectively ensuring full engagement and productivity.
• Promote cross-skilling and drive continuous improvements in operational processes.
• Adapt and collaborate efficiently in flexible, team-based, and dynamic settings.
• Be available for weekend shifts per roster and on-call support during weekdays when necessary.
