About the Role and Company
AIG New Zealand, a prominent provider of insurance products and services for commercial and personal clients, is seeking an Underwriter for Commercial Property. Operating with a robust global property casualty network and over 50 years of experience, AIG serves multinational corporations, SMEs, and various clients. This role offers an opportunity to enhance your underwriting skills as part of a team focused on innovation and risk management transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite and accept commercial property business in line with established underwriting principles, authority limits, and compliance guidelines.
- Work towards achieving financial targets by following strategic plans and objectives.
- Develop and manage a pipeline of new business opportunities and nurture existing client relationships.
- Expand AIG's market share by fostering new distribution channels and strengthening ties with key producers, clients, and industry groups.
- Maintain accurate documentation including files, registers, and records to support audit processes, reporting, and efficient policy issuance.
- Support the execution of business plans aligned with product direction and corporate strategies.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Prior experience in commercial insurance, with exposure to clients and intermediaries.
- Good understanding of property insurance policy wording.
- Ability to analyze and interpret model outputs, pricing data, and line setting tools to make well-informed growth decisions.
- Strong work ethic and motivation to succeed and progress professionally.
- Excellent teamwork abilities with a dedication to service excellence.
- Effective interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
