Job description
Overview
As a Training Superintendent, you will enhance the competency, safety, and operational performance of deck key crew members through advanced simulator training, customized induction programs, and ongoing development plans. Your role involves preparing qualified Masters, Chief Officers, and Chief Engineers for appointments, assisting high-potential crew in career growth, and leveraging feedback, audits, fleet inspections, sea trials, and performance data to optimize training outcomes and regulatory compliance across the fleet.
Located at Boskalis' office in Abu Dhabi, you will oversee vessels owned by Smit Lamnalco, part of the Boskalis group, offering specialized marine services globally with an emphasis on expertise, collaboration, and dependable support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead simulator assessments of deck key crew to assist in their selection, appointment, and performance improvement plans.
- Create, implement, and refine training, assessment, and induction programs aligned with SLIMS and operational requirements.
- Provide guidance on crew skills, identify emerging talent, and aid in promotional and Certificate of Competency (CoC) advancement pathways.
- Continuously monitor and report on vessel and crew performance utilizing internal and external stakeholder feedback to strengthen training measures.
- Promote operational excellence and compliance by conducting vessel audits, advising on ship technology and handling, participating in fleet inspections, and engaging in sea trials.
Qualifications and Experience
- Higher professional education complemented by a Master's certificate and a train-the-trainer certification.
- Between 4 and 6 years of offshore experience relevant to maritime operations, training, or related sectors.
- Comprehensive understanding of STCW, Flag State and Port State regulations, combined with practical knowledge of vessel and marine terminal operations.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal departments such as Operations, Technical, and Crew, as well as external bodies like training centers, regulatory agencies, client representatives, and crew members.
- Dedicated to maintaining safe and healthy working environments, recognizing job hazards, and responsibly escalating unsafe conditions.
