Job description
Position Summary
The Trainee Davenport Operator is tasked with the efficient preparation, operation, and upkeep of multi-spindle turning machinery, specifically Davenport machines, to manufacture high-precision parts. This role demands strong mechanical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to comprehend complex engineering blueprints. The operator will collaborate with the Production Manager to uphold superior quality, safety, and productivity standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Davenport multi-spindle turning machines according to production needs.
- Install necessary tooling and materials ahead of production cycles.
- Conduct basic machine troubleshooting and minor maintenance tasks.
- Handle diverse materials such as Aluminum, 17-4 Stainless Steel, and specialized alloys including Inconel 718 and A286, ensuring proper material handling to avoid damage or contamination.
- Interpret technical drawings in both metric and imperial units, emphasizing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Inspect finished components to verify compliance with design and quality criteria.
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
- Follow all company safety guidelines and maintain a clean workspace using 5S and lean manufacturing techniques.
- Coordinate with production staff and communicate clearly in English to resolve workflow and production challenges.
