Job description

Role Overview

The position of Train Cleaner involves ensuring that trains are maintained to high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, providing a safe and welcoming environment for both passengers and employees. This essential function supports the overall upkeep and positive perception of train services.

Work Schedule

The working pattern follows a 4 on, 4 off rotation during night shifts, specifically from 21:00 to 06:00.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out regular cleaning activities inside trains, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming to sustain a neat and orderly environment.
  • Identify and report any instances of damage, graffiti, or vandalism promptly to the relevant authorities to ensure swift resolution.
  • Manage and top up cleaning inventory to guarantee availability of necessary supplies for daily operations.
  • Comply with all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a secure workplace.
  • Handle and dispose of cleaning chemicals and materials correctly, following established protocols.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must possess the legal Right to Work in the United Kingdom.
  • Previous experience in a cleaning role is favorable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication skills are expected.
  • Availability to work night shifts and weekends is required.

Additional Conditions

  • Candidates must successfully pass a medical assessment as well as tests for drugs and alcohol prior to employment.
  • Completion of Local Track Safety Awareness (LTSA) training is mandatory before starting the role.
