Job description

About the Role

This position involves upholding the cleanliness and hygiene standards on trains to ensure a safe and welcoming atmosphere for both passengers and staff. As a Train Cleaner, you will contribute significantly to the upkeep and visual appeal of the transit environment, enhancing the overall customer experience.

Work Schedule

The regular working hours are Monday to Friday from 9pm until 5am.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out everyday cleaning activities including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming to keep the train interiors neat and orderly.
  • Identify and report any damage, graffiti, or vandalism swiftly to the relevant personnel for immediate action.
  • Ensure cleaning supplies are sufficiently stocked and monitor their usage to maintain availability of necessary materials for daily tasks.
  • Comply with all safety standards and protocols to maintain a secure workplace.
  • Use and dispose of cleaning chemicals and materials according to prescribed safety procedures.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the UK.
  • Prior experience in a cleaning role is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Effective communication abilities are essential.
  • Availability and willingness to work during night shifts and weekends.

Additional Details

  • Candidates must successfully pass medical examinations along with drug and alcohol screenings before employment begins.
  • Completion of Depot Track Safety (DTS) training is required.
  • Free transportation to and from work via Southwest Railway trains is provided.
