Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled Traffic Management Operator (TMO) to join our Queenstown team. This role involves managing traffic control activities for both reactive and scheduled works throughout the region, supporting CCTV and jetting operations. Reporting to the Traffic Management Coordinator and Team Leader, the successful candidate will ensure traffic management tasks are executed safely, effectively, punctually, and in compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Implement traffic management plans for CCTV, jetting, and other operational activities.
  • Coordinate scheduling to optimize equipment and personnel usage and reduce downtime.
  • Collaborate with Traffic Management Coordinator and Team Leader to allocate resources and assets efficiently.
  • Ensure timely fulfillment of traffic management requirements across the operational schedule.
  • Communicate with internal teams to synchronize schedules and support cross-department efforts.
  • Monitor program outcomes to identify areas for improvement in scheduling, resource deployment, and technical execution.
  • Maintain compliance with Veolia's safety, health, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Deliver professional, client-focused service to customers and stakeholders.
  • Occasionally work night shifts as required to meet network operations.

Requirements

  • Possess a recognized Traffic Management Operator qualification.
  • Have 1 to 2 years of experience in traffic management operations.
  • Understand New Zealand traffic management standards applicable to local councils.
  • Familiarity with traffic management protocols for state highways and governing authorities.
  • Experience providing traffic management in client-facing environments.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving traffic management policies and practices.
  • Competent and safe use of traffic management equipment and tools.
  • Strong skills in communication, planning, and problem-solving.
  • Confidence to make independent decisions and work autonomously.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented approach with dedication to task completion.
  • Focus on delivering high quality, safety, and customer service.
  • Flexibility to undertake occasional night shifts.
