Trade Assistant - Town and Site Based

Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Support mechanical maintenance and refurbishment tasks.
• Resurface and reline chutes, pipes, cyclones, and related equipment.
• Fit ceramic wear liners to CHPP machinery.
• Assist tradespeople during maintenance shutdowns.
• Work across both workshop and site settings following roster arrangements.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols to maintain a safe and efficient workplace.

Candidate Requirements

• Possess a current Standard 11 certificate.
• Hold a valid Coal Board Medical clearance.
• Completion of the BMA Core Induction.
• Ability to successfully pass drug and alcohol screening.
• Experience in roles such as Trade Assistant, Labourer, or Maintenance.
• Strong mechanical skills and eagerness to learn.
• Valid Driver's Licence.
• Dedicated to safety and effective teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in CHPP or wash plant operations.
• Background working with fixed plant equipment.
• Mechanical or maintenance industry background.
• Holding relevant High Risk Work Licences.

Compensation and Benefits

• Earn $33.90 per hour (town rate) plus superannuation and applicable penalties.
• Site work compensated at $39.00 per hour plus super and penalties.
• Penalty rates apply for all hours exceeding 38 per week.
• Monday through Friday work schedule with optional overtime to increase earnings.
• Balanced work between workshop (typically 2 days) and site (3 days).
