About the Role
The Testing & Commissioning Engineer will undertake the testing, verification, and commissioning of equipment and systems to ensure they operate according to client requirements and project specifications. The role focuses on 380kV Substation Projects in Saudi Arabia and involves hands-on testing of protection relays, current injection kits, and the overall substation protection schemes.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently test main advanced relays, backup relays, and auxiliary relays for BSP projects.
- Operate all types of relay software applications from various manufacturers.
- Manage and control secondary and primary current injection kits during testing procedures.
- Read and verify protection schemes accurately on-site.
- Recommend enhancements and improvements to operational procedures.
- Plan and organize testing activities efficiently to meet strict deadlines.
- Diagnose and report problems or deficiencies found in existing systems.
- Coordinate testing and commissioning tasks with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and support documentation related to testing and commissioning.
- Ensure that testing activities adhere to project timelines and budgetary constraints.
- Document test results carefully, witness final equipment acceptance, and compile comprehensive test dossiers.
- Guarantee safe commissioning of completed installations to meet required plant performance and project schedules.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 8 to 15 years of relevant experience in testing and commissioning of Extra High Voltage (EHV) substations.
- At least 5 years of direct experience working on 380kV Substation Projects within Saudi Arabia or the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

- Strong expertise in technical troubleshooting related to protection and substation equipment.
- Demonstrated leadership and coordination skills on site.
- Effective communication abilities with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Proficiency in report writing and formal documentation processes.
- Capability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure during critical energization phases.
- Strict adherence to safety protocols and high-quality performance standards.
