Tender/Quotation Specialist

About the Role

This position aims to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality proposals and managing the process from lead generation through to purchase order handling, fostering repeat business for Hitachi Energy.

Key Responsibilities

• Successfully manage the tendering process within South Africa.
• Monitor and achieve key performance indicators such as Revenue, Cash Flow, Inventory, On-time Delivery, and Customer Satisfaction.
• Ensure all tender execution activities comply with Hitachi Energy policies, contractual agreements, quality, health, safety, environmental standards, financial goals, and timelines.
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure satisfaction and on-time delivery.
• Conduct proposal reviews jointly with factory management and project managers to ensure comprehensive fulfillment.
• Actively identify risks, negotiate and address escalated issues from customers, incorporating these learnings into the tendering process.
• Plan, monitor, and control proposal activities within scope, time, and cost constraints, coordinating regularly with the Market Manager for project reviews.
• Lead coordination on customer-related requests concerning proposals or additional project sales.
• Ensure adherence to relevant external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines throughout the tender process.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or equivalent, with substantial technical expertise.
• Experience with Hitachi Energy High Voltage Products (such as GIS, CB, and GC) and familiarity with tendering processes in South Africa.
• Preferred minimum of three years’ tendering experience.
• Strong leadership ability to guide teams and persuade stakeholders in pursuit of tender and execution objectives.
• Capability to perform effectively under pressure to meet project deadlines with quality and cost control.
• Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems is advantageous.
• High attention to detail ensuring accuracy and project quality.
• Adept at developing improved work practices and integrating lessons learned into processes.
• Flexible and adaptive to shifting priorities and tight timelines, with excellent collaboration skills across multicultural and cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on risk identification and mitigation.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and local South African languages.
