Job description
Overview
As a Telecalling Executive, you act as the primary voice connecting customers with the company, mainly in sectors like insurance, banking, loans, and education technology. Your role involves initial customer contact to either promote products, provide service, generate leads, or handle collections.
Key Responsibilities
- Make 80 to 120 outbound calls daily from assigned leads aiming for 3-4 hours of talk time
- Follow a provided script to pitch products effectively within 2-3 minutes, skillfully addressing objections such as "not interested" or requests to "call later"
- Qualify leads using the BANT criteria—Budget, Authority, Need, and Timeline—and categorize prospects as hot, warm, or cold in CRM systems
- Schedule appointments with customers and relationship managers, and confirm via SMS or WhatsApp
- Maintain accurate data entry by logging all call outcomes into CRMs such as Salesforce, Leadsquared, or Core Banking platforms with 100% disposition accuracy
- Conduct follow-up calls as per schedule, recognizing that a majority of sales happen during second to fifth calls
- Achieve daily and weekly targets related to calls made, connections established, lead generation, conversions, and revenue goals
- Adhere strictly to compliance guidelines including Do Not Disturb (DND) scrubbing, call recording disclosures, and regulations set out by bodies like IRDAI and TRAI
Skills and Competencies
- Effective communication with clear and confident delivery, and neutral accent
- Active listening skills to accurately capture customer needs rather than merely pitching
- Persistence to overcome frequent rejection, consistently turning "no" into "yes" on subsequent attempts
- Thorough product knowledge to confidently answer customer queries without deferring
- Fast and accurate CRM typing skills (25-30 words per minute) to maintain updates during calls
- Strong emotional resilience to stay calm and professional even with difficult or angry customers
Performance Metrics
- Daily calls: 100-120; achieving over 80% connection rate
- Talk time: minimum 3.5 hours per day, aiming for 70+ hours/month with 2.5-3 minutes per connection
- Lead generation target: 8-10 daily, contributing to 180-200 monthly with 8-10% conversion from connections
- Sales conversions: 1-2 daily and 25-35 monthly, aiming for 15% conversion of leads
- Maintain quality score of 90% or higher based on call audits
Career Progression
- Team Leader (1-2 years) – Oversee 10-15 telecallers, monitor calls in progress, provide assistance with closing deals
- Assistant Manager (3-4 years) – Manage process targets, reporting (MIS), hiring, and training new team members
- Process Manager (5+ years) – Responsible for P&L, client coordination, and managing attrition rates
- Alternative roles include Field Sales, Banca Relationship Manager, Customer Service Operations, and Quality Assurance/Training
Compensation Details (Chennai, 2026)

Challenges and Strategies
- Handling frequent rejection by reframing “No” as “Not now” and scheduling follow-ups with new approaches
- Combating work monotony with focused "power hour" dialing sessions followed by short breaks and gamification within the team
- Ensuring compliance by strictly following scripted communication and avoiding any mis-selling to prevent regulatory issues
