Technology Portfolio Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Technology Portfolio Manager to oversee a substantial portfolio of digital and technology projects within a large and multifaceted organisation based in Auckland, New Zealand. This senior leadership position merges portfolio management, technology delivery, strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the execution of multiple simultaneous digital and technology programmes and projects.
• Collaborate with senior business stakeholders to develop technology roadmaps and determine investment priorities.
• Monitor portfolio performance including budgets, schedules, risks, issues, and interdependencies.
• Manage and mentor a team of delivery professionals, fostering continuous improvement in delivery methodologies.
• Maintain rigorous governance, reporting, and visibility across the portfolio.
• Coordinate dependencies and ensure alignment among programmes, projects, and broader technology initiatives, ensuring optimal capability and resource capacity.

Candidate Profile

• Brings 8 to 10+ years of experience managing programme, portfolio, or complex project delivery with a strong background in digital systems, applications, and technology initiatives.
• Demonstrated skill in managing multiple concurrent programmes and balancing competing priorities.
• Proven leadership in guiding and developing delivery teams.
• Expertise in portfolio governance, financial oversight, risk mitigation, and dependency management.
• Experience collaborating with senior executives, sponsors, and steering committees, with the ability to influence and navigate complex stakeholder landscapes.
• Strong commercial insight and business acumen, capable of linking technology investments to business outcomes.
