Technical Sales Specialist - Diagnostics & Life Sciences

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Sales Specialist to join a reputable organisation in the diagnostics and life sciences industry. This role involves managing the New Zealand territory with a blend of field-based and remote work. You will leverage your scientific background alongside commercial skills to nurture existing client relationships and pursue new business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and expand current customer partnerships throughout New Zealand.
• Identify and cultivate new business prospects within the diagnostic sector.
• Oversee the complete sales process, from prospecting to product implementation and onboarding.
• Deliver scientific and technical assistance to clients, supporting product evaluations and demonstrations.
• Forge strong connections with laboratories, scientists, pathologists, and purchasing teams.
• Strategize for account and territorial growth while keeping a robust sales pipeline updated in CRM systems.

Candidate Profile

• Academic qualification in Medical Laboratory Science, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or related fields.
• Background in in vitro diagnostics (IVD), medical diagnostics, or similar industries.
• Experience with specialised diagnostic technologies and preferred exposure to electrophoresis, immunofixation, immunofluorescence assay (IFA), and/or ELISA techniques.
• Excellent technical and commercial communication abilities.
• Demonstrated success in sales, account management, or business development roles.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently, and comfortable with frequent travel across New Zealand.
• Possession of full New Zealand work rights and a valid driver’s license.

Additional Information & Benefits

• Salary range from NZD 120,000 to 140,000 per annum plus Kiwisaver contributions.
• Supplementary car allowance of NZD 20,000, petrol expenses, and an 18% quarterly bonus.
• Preferred residence in Auckland, although applicants from anywhere in New Zealand are welcome.
• Flexible working arrangement with a mix of field engagement and work-from-home options.
