Overview
The Sales Engineer will spearhead initiatives to cultivate new business opportunities and solidify relationships with major clients within a designated region. The role is central to meeting sales quotas and profitability targets, requiring territorial travel for product demonstrations and collaboration with internal departments to guarantee an outstanding client journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement strategies aimed at fulfilling revenue and net profit objectives.
- Preserve existing sales levels, optimize the balance of brand portfolios, and pursue expansion into new accounts alongside nurturing current clients.
- Pinpoint and engage prospective marine industry clients to broaden market infiltration across assigned areas.
- Carry out outbound sales activities, including cold calls, email campaigns, and participation in networking events to promote products and services.
- Manage a qualified sales lead pipeline via CRM software, tracking all sales cycle activities and status.
- Work cooperatively with the Inside Sales Engineer for proposal generation, lead tracking, and diligent client follow-up.
- Perform product demonstrations and onsite visits to effectively present product attributes and applications.
- Coordinate with teams from purchasing, marketing, technical services, and order management to ensure smooth client interactions.
- Lead negotiations on pricing, terms, and contracts to win new business and align with growth targets.
- Provide management with accurate forecasts, pipeline insights, and activity updates through CRM reporting.
- Work closely with the Accounts Receivable team to oversee timely collection efforts and manage outstanding invoices.
- Maintain comprehensive sales documentation including signed invoices, delivery notes, and related paperwork at the branch office.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Marine studies, or a related discipline.
- A successful history of sales within marine or comparable industries.
- Thorough understanding of marine products, their technical features, applications, and current market trends.
- Experience utilizing CRM platforms and diverse sales tools.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to interpret and convey complex technical product details effectively.
- Proven aptitude for teamwork within multifunctional groups.
- At least 5 years of professional sales experience specifically within marine or associated sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to identify potential clients, manage and grow sales pipelines, and conduct impactful product demonstrations and client visits.
- Solid grasp of sales methodologies and the entire sales process.
