Job description

About Lumilens

Lumilens is pioneering critical photonic infrastructure aimed at revolutionizing AI supercomputing. Their technology spans from chip-to-chip optical interconnects to scalable photonic engines, fostering a new generation of computing that is faster, more efficient, and runs cooler. As a well-funded startup led by industry veterans, Lumilens is driving transformative innovations in photonics.

Role Overview

This senior Technical Project Manager position in the Silicon Operations team holds significant impact and responsibility. The role focuses on guiding complex process development and preparing manufacturing operations for photonics, advanced packaging, optical module assembly, and external manufacturing collaborations. The manager will liaise closely with engineering teams, OSAT partners, quality, and operations to guarantee on-time achievement of key process milestones—from development and design of experiments (DOE) to qualification, pilot production, and volume manufacturing launch. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic startup environment and demonstrates hands-on technical expertise, program ownership, collaboration, and making data-driven decisions that propel next-gen optical interconnect tech.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure comprehensive end-to-end process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), design for manufacturability (DFM) and controllability.
  • Manage overall scheduling for process development phases including DOE, qualification, pilot runs, and transition to high-volume manufacturing.
  • Coordinate with process engineers on detailed process specifications, deliverables, and performance goals.
  • Partner with OSAT quality assurance teams to uphold site and process quality and reliability standards through audits, process control, change management, and Material Review Board (MRB) activities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Mechatronics, Materials Science, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering fields; advanced degree is advantageous.
  • At least eight years of practical process engineering experience in semiconductor packaging, optoelectronics, optical transceiver/module assembly, microelectronics, surface-mount technology (SMT), or precision automation manufacturing, preferably within a high-volume production setting.
  • In-depth expertise in core assembly processes such as die attach/die bonding, wire bonding, active optical alignment, module assembly, dispensing, curing, bonding, or full production line integration.
  • Track record of leading process development projects across concept, qualification, pilot builds, production releases, and ongoing high-volume manufacturing scale-up.
  • Thorough knowledge of process FMEA, DFM/DFx, quality and reliability control plans, change control procedures, MRB, and production process audits, particularly within manufacturing or OSAT contexts.
  • Strong proficiency in DOE, Statistical Process Control (SPC), process capability indices (Cpk), yield analysis, defect Pareto charts, root cause failure analysis, and structured problem-solving approaches like 8D or DMAIC.
  • Experience in defining process windows, equipment needs, operational recipes, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, qualification testing plans, and production control strategies.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with diverse functional teams including process and product engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, equipment engineering, suppliers, and contract manufacturers.
  • Skilled at facilitating complex technical discussions, aligning stakeholders, and making timely, data-supported decisions under pressure related to schedules and ramp-up demands.
  • Results-driven, detail-focused, and adaptable professional comfortable in a fast-evolving startup or scale-up environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills capable of conveying technical insights, risks, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to both engineering teams and leadership.

Benefits

  • Competitive remuneration with comprehensive benefits.
  • Prospects for career growth within a cutting-edge technology company.
  • Opportunity to work alongside an expert team tackling industry-leading challenges.
  • A culture that values collaboration and innovation.
