Technical Product Owner - Platform AI

Role Overview

Join idealo as a Technical Product Owner specializing in Platform AI, where you'll establish the technical groundwork for scalable AI initiatives. You'll lead the vision and development of our central AI platform, guiding its evolution alongside engineering teams and stakeholders to deliver reusable AI services focused on exceptional developer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and develop the strategic roadmap of the AI platform, collaborating closely with engineers and business stakeholders.
• Drive the creation of scalable, reusable APIs and services addressing foundational AI models including large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, vector search capabilities, evaluation mechanisms, and autonomous agentic AI.
• Evaluate and prioritize projects based on factors like business impact, user demands, feasibility, and costs.
• Define, monitor, and respond to performance indicators such as adoption rates, time-to-value, service quality, availability, and expenditure.
• Work with Engineering, Security, and related teams to maintain platform reliability, AI security protocols, governance, and compliance with data protection standards.
• Promote a Platform-as-a-Product philosophy enabling self-service with a strong emphasis on developer usability and comprehensive documentation.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience as a Technical Product Owner or Lead within platform, cloud, or AI technology environments.
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, platform design, and software architecture, adept in engaging technical engineering discussions.
• Practical expertise in AI/ML/Generative AI techniques including LLMs, RAG, embeddings, vector search, evaluation, and agentic AI.
• Familiarity with cloud services (preferably AWS), APIs, Infrastructure-as-Code, and continuous integration/delivery pipelines.
• Skillful at converting complex requirements into tangible strategies, detailed roadmaps, and clear priorities supported by data insights.
• Exceptional ownership, analytical reasoning, and effective communication with stakeholders, balancing value, experience, and efficiency in a proactive manner.
