Technical Operator - Bus and Marine Systems Support

Job Overview

The Technical Operator position is responsible for ensuring the dependable functioning of intelligent transportation systems supporting bus and marine services. This role involves continuous platform monitoring, incident management, data updates, first-level troubleshooting assistance, reporting, and communication coordination with control centers, service providers, and field personnel to fulfill expected service levels.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and implement technical incident priority classifications, escalation procedures, and response goals aligned with organizational protocols and service commitments.
• Oversee service-level agreement KPIs and ITS performance metrics to identify risks and trends, delivering insights for proactive interventions to supervisors and control centers.
• Analyze system logs and incident data to recommend operational efficiency enhancements and procedural improvements for ITS functions.
• Continuously monitor bus and marine ITS platforms through control dashboards to detect irregularities, data inconsistencies, and service disruptions; promptly respond to alerts from multiple stakeholders.
• Document and manage technical incident tickets with precise categorization and ensure timely resolution tracking.
• Collaborate with control rooms, vendors, and service providers to verify system functionality, resolve issues, and maintain persistent communication on open cases.
• Provide frontline technical support to field operators, assisting with basic diagnosis and escalating complex problems to higher expertise as defined.
• Manage remote schedule configurations and update deployments; verify changes on field systems and address any deployment failures.
• Support operation and maintenance of automatic vehicle monitoring (AVM), real-time passenger information (RTPI), automated fare collection (AFC), Nol card machines, and related smart hardware by supervising routine checks and coordinating corrective measures for recurrent issues.
• Update ITS scheduling databases ensuring completeness and data integrity through defined management tasks.
• Maintain ITS asset inventory and tracking, coordinating equipment status updates, movements, and replacements within teams.
• Monitor Nol machine cash collections via system reports, report anomalies, and coordinate timely resolution actions.
• Conduct field inspections as necessary to validate device operability, schedule accuracy, configuration effectiveness, and successful maintenance or installation completion.
• Contribute to testing and deployment phases of new systems or upgrades by documenting defects and user feedback.
• Assist with disaster recovery exercises executing tests, validating system restoration, and reporting outcomes.
• Prepare routine reports summarizing performance, incidents, corrective actions, and trends to support managerial oversight and continuous improvement.

Work Environment

The role requires occasional site visits to depots, terminals, marine facilities, and control rooms for hands-on troubleshooting, live testing, and verification of ITS components.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
• 0-1 years experience with strong oral communication skills.
• Open to all nationalities with preference given to UAE Nationals.
