Team Leader Water

Overview

This role offers a full-time commitment of 40 hours weekly, with an annual remuneration between $96,543 and $136,296 NZD (inclusive of KiwiSaver), depending on experience; typical appointment around $110,000. The position is based at the Porirua Depot, leading water operations teams serving the Porirua and Wellington City regions. It combines practical water infrastructure knowledge with leadership, coaching, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a crew ensuring delivery of essential community water services.
• Drive improvements in water quality, network reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Candidate Profile

• Demonstrated success leading teams in operational or infrastructure contexts.
• Experience in water, utilities, civil infrastructure, or related industries.
• Strong skills in people management, coaching, and performance optimization.
• Deep understanding of water network operations and maintenance; holds NZ Certificate in Infrastructure Works (Pipeline Construction and Maintenance) Level 4 or 5.
• Commitment to health, safety, environmental, and quality protocols.
• Competence in budget management, cost control, and operational metrics.
• Effective communication and stakeholder relationship skills.
• Solid organisational, planning, and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Proficient with computer systems including asset and work management software.
