Overview

This role involves comprehensive administration of Tableau Server environments throughout development, quality assurance, and production stages. The administrator will handle upgrade planning and execution, user and license management, issue troubleshooting, and ongoing support activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Tableau Server setups across Dev, QA, and Production.
  • Plan, execute, verify, and support post-upgrade of Tableau Server.
  • Administer users, groups, permissions, licenses, data extracts, schedules, and published resources.
  • Diagnose and resolve Tableau Server problems in QA and Production environments.
  • Maintain and update regression and upgrade test suites.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to coordinate RHEL OS and middleware upgrades.
  • Support continuous integration and deployment operations using GitHub Enterprise, Jenkins, and Ansible.
  • Automate processes with scripting tools such as Python and Tableau REST API (TSC).
  • Verify Control-M job dependencies related to Tableau upgrades.
  • Handle regular Tableau administration, monitoring, and production activities post-upgrade.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficient in Tableau Server administration with extensive hands-on experience.
  • Practical experience in executing Tableau Server upgrades within production settings.
  • Strong knowledge of Tableau Server architecture including TSM services, logs, backup/restore procedures, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Experience managing Tableau Server on Linux (specifically RHEL).
  • Familiarity with Tableau Desktop and Server compatibility as well as enterprise deployment workflows.

Preferred Skills

  • Python scripting for automation purposes.
  • Experience with Tableau REST API (TSC, tabcmd).
  • Working knowledge of Jenkins, Git, GitHub Enterprise, and Ansible tools.
  • Background in CI/CD pipelines and release management.
  • Exposure to Control-M or similar enterprise batch scheduling software.
