Job description

Job Overview

The System Administrator will handle the upkeep, configuration, and dependable operation of the organization's IT environment, including servers, networks, computer systems, and related technologies. This role is central to maintaining system stability, security, user access management, hardware and software troubleshooting, and employee technical support. Additionally, the role encompasses supporting technology upgrades to ensure IT systems work securely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and configure computer systems, servers, and virtual environments to ensure reliable performance.
  • Install, update, and manage operating systems, software applications, hardware, and IT infrastructure components.
  • Administer virtual servers and support virtualization platforms.
  • Track system performance, availability, and capacity ensuring operational standards are met.
  • Participate in system upgrades, new implementations, and continuous technology improvements.
  • Document all technical configurations and system changes accurately.
  • Set up and manage firewalls, intrusion prevention/detection systems, antivirus, anti-malware, and spam filtering solutions.
  • Oversee LAN and WAN network connectivity and maintain network stability across the company.
  • Ensure robust system and network security by applying access controls, security policies, regular patches, and backups.
  • Respond to security alerts promptly to reduce risks and minimize service interruptions.
  • Support and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Manage Microsoft Azure AD / Microsoft Entra ID connected systems and devices.
  • Administer user accounts, access permissions, and ensure appropriate authentication protocols.
  • Assist employees with account management, access issues, and system-related inquiries.
  • Provide daily technical support, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, network, and system problems efficiently.
  • Install and maintain desktop systems, printers, and other IT tools.
  • Liaise with third-party vendors for equipment maintenance and repairs as necessary.
  • Maintain an inventory of IT hardware and spare parts for emergencies.
  • Support unified communications, VoIP platforms, and related IT services, including software and system upgrades.
  • Prepare technical documentation and specifications for new or enhanced IT infrastructure projects.
  • Identify and implement improvements and automation opportunities in IT processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or closely related field; equivalent professional experience may be accepted.
  • Relevant certifications in Microsoft technologies, Linux, networking, or system administration are beneficial.
  • 3 to 5 years of professional experience in system administration, network management, or IT infrastructure roles.
  • Hands-on expertise with managing servers, systems, networks, and virtualization technologies.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Azure AD / Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, and Windows system environments.
  • Experience managing LAN/WAN networks, applying security protocols, managing firewalls, and handling patch updates.
  • Understanding of system security measures including intrusion detection/prevention systems, access control, backups and recovery operations.
  • Familiar with multiple operating systems and various IT platforms.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A proactive and resourceful individual capable of resolving IT issues swiftly to reduce business disruption.
