Job description
Overview
Central Otago District Council (CODC) invites enthusiastic and approachable Swim Teachers to become part of a dedicated team committed to enhancing community safety and aquatic education. This permanent full-time position is based in Cromwell and offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to water safety and swimming development across all age groups.
Primary Duties
- Conduct engaging, safe, and quality swim lessons for learners ranging from infants to adults.
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the Swim School's structured programmes to support student progress.
- Establish positive communication and relationships with swimmers, parents, and caregivers, delivering top-tier customer service.
- Maintain meticulous and timely records of lessons, student progress, and associated administrative tasks.
- Collaborate with the Swim School team to facilitate the Water Skills for Life programme within local educational institutions.
- Work closely alongside the Swim School Manager and aquatics staff, upholding qualifications and best teaching standards.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children, demonstrating a genuine passion for teaching and enabling growth.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-centric approach to foster supportive relationships with learners and families.
- Open to learning and receptive to feedback, adaptable in lesson delivery to cater to diverse skill levels and learning needs.
- Positive, cooperative mindset with strong organisational abilities and fundamental computer skills.
- Possession of a current New Zealand Swim Teaching Qualification or willingness to pursue and maintain this credential.
